Quality Manager

Salary: £52,000 per annum

Location: Andover

Full time and Permanent

Hours: Monday – Thursday 7am – 4pm and Friday 7am – 3pm

Benefits Package: 23 days holiday plus bank holidays. Company pension scheme (eligibility after a 3-month probationary period).

I have been requested by our Client, a well-established specialist manufacturer supplying high-performance protective equipment into the Military, Police, and Security sectors to recruit a Quality Engineer.

Due to continued growth, they are seeking an experienced and hands-on Quality Manager to join their team based in Andover.

This is an exciting opportunity for a proactive and driven quality professional who enjoys being actively involved on the shop floor, working closely with production and engineering teams, and driving continuous improvement across manufacturing operations.

The Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and coordinating all quality and safety activities across the business, ensuring products and services consistently meet customer expectations, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.

You will play a key role in maintaining and improving quality systems, driving process improvements, reducing waste, and supporting operational excellence across the manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Developing, implementing, and maintaining quality standards, procedures, and documentation.
  • Managing inspection reports, material traceability records, cure logs, and non-conformance reports.
  • Ensuring compliance with ISO 9001 and customer-specific quality requirements.
  • Conducting internal and external audits to verify product and process compliance.
  • Collaborating with production, engineering, and supply chain teams to resolve quality issues.
  • Leading continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen, or similar methodologies.
  • Implementing corrective and preventative actions (CAPA).
  • Optimising manufacturing processes to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and enhance product reliability.
  • Validating incoming raw materials against specifications and supplier certifications.
  • Monitoring manufacturing process parameters including temperature, pressure, vacuum integrity, and cure cycles.
  • Leading root cause analysis investigations and structured problem-solving activities.
  • Supporting engineering teams to improve work instructions, tooling, and manufacturability.
  • Monitoring supplier performance and supporting supplier development activities.
  • Managing customer complaints and non-conformance investigations.
  • Ensuring accurate communication and documentation of quality-related issues.

Candidate Requirements

  • Previous experience within a Quality Manager, Quality Engineer, or Quality Assurance role within manufacturing or engineering environments.
  • Strong understanding of quality management systems and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Experience with Root Cause Analysis tools including 5 Whys, Fishbone, and FMEA.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, and manufacturing documentation.
  • Experience using measurement equipment and statistical analysis techniques.
  • Strong knowledge of ERP/MES systems and quality management software.
  • Understanding of industry regulations and compliance standards.
  • Experience working with composite materials, textiles, or technical manufacturing processes would be highly advantageous.
  • Knowledge of clothing or protective equipment manufacturing processes beneficial.
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Hands-on approach with the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
